Organisation & structure

RICHeS was founded in 2009 and registered under Greek law as an 'Astiki etairia mi kerdoskopikou charaktira' - a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. The unabbreviated name in Greek is: Αστική μη Κερδοσκοπική Εταιρία για τη Διεθνή Πολιτιστική Κληρονομιά της Ρόδου. Its legal members constitute the executive board. RICHeS is strictly non-political and non-religious and welcomes everybody who is interested in all aspects of the cultural heritage of Rhodes.

Volunteers

RICHeS can count on a large number of enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers and supporters. They make our events possible and it is their contribution in a variety of fields that guarantees continuity of RICHeS. RICHeS is a non-profit organisation and nobody gets paid for his/her work. That applies to the four members of the board as well as to all the volunteers. Everybody who is involved in RICHeS does this next to her or his normal work, so in their spare time. We do so because we love Rhodes and because we want to contribute our little piece to making this a better place. Just like the members of the board also our volunteers are from various backgrounds; Greek, Dutch, English, Swedish, Russian, Turkish and Italian, for example.

Friends and supporters

RICHeS is an non-governmental organisation and not, which is usually the case for cultural associations in Greece, a 'syllogos' with registered fee paying members. We have chosen for this form of organisation in order to be able to work more efficiently and for our events to be easily accessible. The events organized by RICHeS are open to everybody and you don't need to become a member or to be asked to become a member in order to participate. That means also that nobody has to pay annual membership fees, or attend long meetings. The events are directed at a broad audience, interested in the history and culture of Rhodes and looking for new ways to be involved in that. The activities are either free or at a very low entrance fee. This way, it is possible for everybody to participate. And that shows; at RICHeS events you can see people from all walks of life and from all ages. The money neccessary for these events comes from the contributions per event or from sponsoring by companies or from individuals, who can become registered supporters with a voluntary donation.
